I adored RAM FM. My favorite thing to do was drink a Taybeh beer at Pronto in Ramallah while listening to RAM FM and reading a good novel or philosophy book. Good times. Meshtaqlak. (I miss you [RAM FM])

I'm an American woman (neither Jewish nor Muslim -- ex-Christian, actually) who lived for two and a half years in Palestine, based in Ramallah. I remember my 60 seconds of fear when I first ventured past the green line to visit Jayyous. The fear evaporated the moment I crossed a roadblock and was met with half a dozen cab drivers greeting us with "Salaam alaykum!" What followed were the best and most enlightening years of my life.

I have a feeling it's a metaphor for what's coming in the Middle East, and maybe even the world -- moments of intense fear followed by the evaporation of illusions and the best and most enlightening times in human history.

Inshallah. (Or -- if we will it. If there is a God, I believe he works through us.)
