Hi everyone, I’m Ami Kaufman, and I’ve been a journalist for the past 20 years in Israeli print (Haaretz, Calcalist, Globes), web (co-founder of +972 Magazine), radio (RAM FM) and TV. Look, I even have a reel!:
So, why have I’ve decided to start a podcast?
Well, I’ve been thinking that there are about 12 million people living between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean, half of them (depends on which way your demographer leans) are Jews, the rest Muslim, Christian, Druze, and more. I want to get to know them better. Some of them might be famous, some of them less so. But all of them interest me.
I want to hear with you the stories of anyone and everyone - regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation - between the River and the Sea. I want to do understand what makes these people tick, how they formed their views, what they see for the future, and hope that somewhere deep down that knowledge, about all of us here, can bring us closer.
As a subscriber, you’ll have access to the “Otherwise Occupied” podcast that I’ll be posting here. And this is where you come in: please subscribe and share this newsletter with at least three other people.
Besides the podcast, I’ll occasionally post some roundups of interesting news, with a focus on Israeli media and social media, with a sprinkle of my own snarky analysis.
I’m always looking for interesting people to interview. E-mail me your suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
So yalla, if you’re not otherwise occupied, let’s get this show on the road!
